Redefining Readiness,
One Student’s SHINE at a Time

Over the next 20 years, nearly half of jobs may be automated, and the average person may hold 17 jobs. Instead of preparing for a single career, students should prepare to adapt their talents to a changing environment. Self-awareness empowers students to discover their strengths and pursue aligned opportunities, increasing self-confidence and happiness. This is critical, as seven in ten teens say depression and anxiety are major problems for peers. Schools alone can’t solve these challenges. House of Shine works alongside educators, helping students discover who they are, learn to lead, and work together.

What’s Your Shine? Curriculum

Students develop content knowledge slowly and over time. The What’s Your Shine? K-12 curriculum allows them to develop self-knowledge the same way. Each piece of curriculum is intended to provide a slow drip of increased self-awareness that, over 13 years, will lead to a more confident and engaged student.

FIELD TRIPS

Young Minds are Meant to Shine Bright

Our customized, experiential Field Trips offer students ages 5-18 the opportunity to discover their SHINE– the Strengths, Hobbies, Interests & Irritants, Needs and Experiences that make each of us unique– through an interactive learning session, creative activity, group discussion, and a safe and fun space to share who they are and why that matters. Self-awareness is vital to a students’ personal and educational growth, yet it is not consistently taught in traditional school settings. Our goal, then, is to increase self-awareness, develop reflection skills, and teach students how through their SHINE they can best contribute to their communities.

The result of this experience? More confident, self-aware students who are empowered to make thoughtful decisions, contribute meaningfully to their communities, see themselves as capable leaders, and SHINE, both in and out of the classroom.

Groups Who Have Experienced SHINE

We begin every field trip with a group tour of our interactive museum of self-discovery. We’re excited to welcome anyone eager to learn more about themselves and the difference they can make in their corner of the world. After our tour, we transition into an interactive SHINE learning session with our SHINE Worksheet and participate in group discussions and hands-on activities. Every field trip ends with a couple of one-of-a-kind mementos as a reminder to keep shining in your corner of the world.
