A look ahead at the next two weeks makes The Year of Peace and the idea of meditation seem almost laughable.
Tomorrow I leave for Canada and will be there for a week.
Friday, February 24 I return and on Monday my husband leaves town for two days.
Tuesday night he returns and on Wednesday we close on our new house.
Thursday a small team of workers enters our new home to do work.
Friday another set of workers enters or current home prepping it for renters who arrive later that week. Somewhere in there I must pack bags so we can stay at my in-laws house for a few days.
Monday and Tuesday movers pack up our old house so that Wednesday and Thursday our belongings can be unloaded into the new house. Saturday is Jack’s birthday party, and on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. we leave on a plane for Florida.
Now is a good time to talk about why it is essential to set goals that are relevant.
If your SMART goal is not something that matters to you then it’s far too easy to have it fall by the wayside when life gets harried, as it will inevitably do.
In my case, I see how making time to meditate will help me remain peaceful at a time when life feels especially chaotic.
How about you? Spend five or ten minutes being accountable to the specific goal you set. What makes it relevant and important to you? What will keep you committed to it, even when daily pressures of life get in the way?
