Nothing gets Monday off to a better start than the sense of accomplishment that comes from setting a goal.
If you tuned in yesterday - February 12 - than you know I posted a short teaser about the work we will be doing this week. Forty-three people have joined the House of Shine's Year Of project - 43 people who have set their sights on doing something big in 2012. It might be putting themselves first, rediscovering what they are passionate about, getting financially secure, reconnecting with friends, spending more time doing art, or, in my case, finding peace.
If you are not one of our "registered' 43, you can participate anyway by just following along.
Today we plunge right into Step #1 of setting a SMART goal. Make it specific.
The nice thing about setting a specific goal is that you know when you are finished.
The year 2012 is my Year of Peace and one specific goal I am going to set, among others, is learning how to meditate. Learning to meditate is specific and because of that it is more effective than stating something general such as "Become more calm" or "Slow down and smell the roses".
One year from now, I will have either learned how to medidate or I won't. Either way I will know if I was successful. My certainty about success would be harder to achieve with a goal as general "becoming more calm" or "slowing down".
Now for you. What project have you committed to and what is, at least, one specific goal that brings you closer to seeing it realized?
Jot it in your journal and/or share it with us in the Comment Section. We might even help refine it.
Shining off until tomorrow when we will make our specific goals measurable too.
