I've been told...

...that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. If that statement is true then, oh boy, I'm in trouble.

Greetings all! Cheryl here for a Free for all Friday. Veterans know that 2011 is my Year of Love and that I'll be spreading love throughout the year with my Friday posts. This week I'm loving Reynolds for making these baking heart cups!

Run! Do not walk, run, to Target and pick these up from the seasonal Valentine aisle. I know it's freezing cold out there but you have to have them!

The tough part is deciding what to put in them. Cake, brownies, jello, or ice cream?

Well, since they'll only be entering my stomach, I decided on banana bread heart shaped muffins. I have an easy peasy recipe that I use from my favorite aunt Betty Crocker. Go ahead and preheat your oven to 350. Here's the line up of ingredients:

1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup of butter (softened), 2 eggs, 1.5 cups of smashed bananas (about 3 to 4), 1/3 cup of water, 1 2/3 cups of flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of baking powder, 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Oh, I don't like nuts. No nuts for potential loves and no nuts in my banana bread but fill free to add some to yours if you like that sort of thing.

I didn't give you play-by-play photos because it's too darn easy. Mix the sugar and butter. Add the eggs and mix. Add the smashed bananas and water and mix. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder and mix. Voila!

But wait! I don't usually diverge from any recipe. I follow the instructions step by step. But, I've made this banana bread so much that I will add either cinnamon or vanilla just for kicks. I'm adventurous that way. But I never add both. Maybe not that adventurous. Some foodie out there tell me if I can add both.

I like to make mine into muffins because they seem to go further than a loaf for some reason. I can't explain it but it's true.

I threw them in the oven for 15 minutes but they still weren't ready. I just watched them from there until they were golden brown. About another 3 minutes or so. And, they're most delicious warm out of the oven.

You are sure to be loved if you share. Or maybe, you just need to love yourself.

Don't forget to join us tomorrow to spread some more love- and SHINE -when we will acknowledge another Yellow Envelope Project Nominee. Tell me today- what would you bake in your heart shaped tins to earn some love?

Signing off until tomorrow...

Looks delicious! I'd fill the tins up with candy. Remember, we only had those chalky conversation hearts when we were kids... now there are Valentine... M & M's, Skittles, Wrapped Dove or Hershey Nuggets, red hots.... How Fun!

Another home run by Cheryl. The tins are cute and look easy enough that even I could use them.

Don't you hate that schools are so paranoid, you cannot bring a single homemade item to school or daycare anymore? Even if homemade means using a box of Betty Crocker mix. Anyway, they are the perfect thing to bring to a classroom party, but in light of the fact that we can't, maybe I will give them to teachers as Valentine's Day presents. I for sure will make a special dessert for the Beeny boys.

I think I will make mine chocolate cake and then I will cut slice them in half, so I can put a small dollop of vanilla ice cream in between. Yum.

My banana bread is yummy! And, it's come in very handy on these cold, snowy days. They make me smile, they're so cute.

If Reynolds sold them all year you could use them to make popcicles (sp?) or put layers of ice cream in for summer treats.
