I wish I could say this post was coming to you late because New Year's Eve was a night of total reckless abandon.
The truth is I was feeling so under the weather that, at 12:06 I finally broke down and took NyQuil. Eleven hours later, I am just coming back to. The good news is, 2011 can only go up from here.
This week I am going to take advantage of the fact that you are still on vacation and that you might have more time to think, reflect, and act than you do during the rest of the year.
I am going to ask that this weekend you engage someone else in conversation about people who shine. Ask a friend, a son or daughter, your parent, or the person standing behind you in line waiting to exchange holiday gifts. Ask them to reflect on Heather's question from Friday, "Who was the person that most shined for you in 2010?"
Engage them in reflection, so that one or both of you can act. Invite them to visit the www.yellowenvelopeproject.com, so they can complete our simple nomination form and so we can continue flooding mailboxes with anonymous letters of gratitude (in yellow envelopes).
We are a small tribe of people committed to powering the planet with shine. If we are to make as much progress in 2011 as we did in 2010, we need tribe members to help mine the country for the most deserved people.
You will know a deserved person when you see one because they will radiate shine. People deserving of our Yellow Envelope Project are busy brightening their corners of the world. They aren't famous people or people you read about in newspapers or see on the news. These are everyday people who, without or without recognition, do the hard, disciplined work of making their corners of the world better places to live.
Enjoy the final days of your holiday and visit us again next Saturday ready to resume our normal routine.
Shining off until Monday.
