Christmas is over, but I am still plugging away at my attempt to cover something (person, place, or thing) that shines each day for the whole month of December.
Today I have decided, nothing says shine like the Waterford crystal ball that drops in Times Square each year on New Years Eve.
12 feet in diameter.
11,875 pounds.
2,688 crystal triangles.
32,256 lights.
Something you might not know about the Times Square ball that makes it even "shinier" is that each year Waterford etches a new design in some portion of the 2,688 crystal triangles.
For New Year's Eve 2009 the design was a sunburst and it was titled, "Let there be Light"
The next year an angel with outstretched arms was etched in crystals and it was titled, "Let there be Joy"
This year's edition is a cascade of hearts titled, "Let there be Love"
If you were etching your own design on a portion of Waterford's crystal New Year's Eve ball, how would it look and what would you title it? Visit us in the Community Forum labeled, Today's Post and tell us.
Shining off until tomorrow...
