A Slice of Shine

Growing up, Christmas dinners were always perfectly punctuated with a slice of Jubilee Ice Cream Roll from Friendly's Ice Cream Store.

Jubilee rolls are definitely something to celebrate.  They are made of delicious chocolate ice cream surrounded by chocolate chip ice cream, topped with fudge, chopped almonds, and ice cream ribbon and candy chips.

I always ate the bottom first and saved the ice cream ribbon, fudge, chopped almonds, and candy chips for the end.  By that time the ice cream ribbon was perfectly melted and the toppings had become one with the ice cream.  It is a taste I can still conjure up as easily as memories of my mother's beautiful centerpieces; her festive holiday dinners; and adults talking late into the night, while my sisters and I sat in the family room, cozy and under blankets.

Jubilee Ice Cream Rolls cost less than $10.00 and are a priceless piece of my Christmas Eve nostalgia.

Shining off until tomorrow...
