A new pool means that now we have a new pool boy.  He works for Pacific Pools - a company that prides themselves on doing quality work for over 20 years.

He comes to our house on Wednesdays.  That was yesterday.

Richard happened to have been working out of the house and here's the story he told me about Pool Boy's visit.

Pool boy arrived at 1:04 p.m.

At 1:15 p.m. he left a note on the outside grill indicating that he checked, analyzed, and balanced the following things: chlorine level, ph, Total Alkalinity, and the Stabalizer.  In addition Pool Boy's Weekly Pool Service Report Card explained that he vacuumed the pool, brushed walls and floor, cleaned skimmer and pump baskets, checked the Filter Pressure, Skimmed the Surface, Cleaned Pool Sweep Bag, and Cleaned Screen.

Eleven minutes.  That's what it took him.

Immediately, Richard called the office - 817.431.4440 - and asked the receptionist how it was possible that Pool Boy could legitimately complete all of those tasks in eleven minutes.

The receptionist agreed it was not right and arranged to have him return to our house.

On his return visit, Pool Boy was at our house for 37 minutes.  According to my calculations that means Pool Boy's job, when done correctly, takes 48 minutes to complete.

Pool Boy does not shine.  If he did he would hold himself accountable and do the job he was hired to do even when he thought that no one was watching.  More importantly, if Pool Boy shined he would know about the rush you get when you do your best work and, like a total Shine Junkie, he would actively seek his next high.

If the world was powered with shine we wouldn't have to rearrange our schedule, so we could be home to make sure Pool Boy was doing what he was supposed to.  We wouldn't have to wonder if the oil in our car was really changed, or if mattress we bought was really new, or if our bank accounts were being tampered with, or if our day care was really taking good care of our children.

If the world was powered with shine, we wouldn't have to wonder.

Today, power your corner of the world with shine by agreeing not to make anyone wonder. Do the right thing the right way your first time out of the gate.

Be a Shine Junkie.

Shining off until tomorrow...
